New Stop in the Quality Marathon: Guidance Activity at the Faculty of Sport Sciences

As our University steadily progresses toward its Institutional Accreditation target scheduled for May 2026, the “Quality Culture Development” focused guidance and consultancy activities continue with the Faculty of Sport Sciences. Following the Faculties of Science, Forestry, and Education, this fourth stop of the process emphasized that quality is a “team game.”

The program conducted on 08 April 2026 was implemented not as a traditional audit process, but as an on-site consultancy model in which problems were identified in situ and solutions were jointly developed.

Two-Phase Dynamic Program
Under the leadership of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Zafer Ceylan, the quality team structured the morning agenda into two key sessions to maximize efficiency:

Management-Oriented Strategy Session (10:00–10:30):
In this initial session with faculty management, the alignment of administrative and academic processes with accreditation standards was discussed.

Academic Staff Sharing Panel (10:30–12:30):
With the intensive participation of academic staff, this session focused on practices related to accreditation processes.

From Desk to Field: Continuous Improvement
During the discussions shaped by questions from 25 participants, the following key themes emerged:

• Learning Outcomes and Assessment Alignment: The extent to which learning outcomes in course information packages align with examinations and practical training was analyzed within the framework of the PDCA Cycle.
• Practical Use of Process Handbooks: The adaptation of guidelines that reduce bureaucratic workload while defining standards in academic operations into daily practice was emphasized.
• Added Value of Accreditation: The strategic benefits of the May evaluation for the national and international visibility of the faculty were highlighted.

Full Ownership and Shared Goal
Throughout the activity, staff concerns and suggestions regarding the process were directly communicated to senior management. This transparent communication environment once again demonstrated that the accreditation process is not merely an attempt to obtain certification but a collective construction of institutional identity embraced by all units.

The University’s quality journey will continue with other academic units according to the established schedule, steadily advancing toward the 2026 vision with strong and determined steps.
