BARU's quality journey continues with the accreditation processes of the Faculty of Science departments.
The Faculty of Science at Bartın University (BARÜ) conducted accreditation field visits to three programs by the Faculty of Science, Literature, Science-Literature, Language and History-Geography (FEF) Curriculum Evaluation and Accreditation Association (FEDEK).
Accreditation efforts at Bartın University (BARÜ), driven by a commitment to quality and continuous improvement in educational activities, continue unabated. As part of this, the Computer Technology and Information Systems, Biotechnology, and Mathematics Departments within the Faculty of Science were recently visited by the FEDEK.
FEDEK, which evaluates departments in different disciplines based on criteria such as education, physical infrastructure, academic staff qualifications, program objectives and outcomes, and curriculum planning, conducted detailed inspections by visiting the classrooms and laboratories of the departments. The team, led by Prof. Dr. Emrah Akyar and co-led by Prof. Dr. Zerrin Gül Esmerligil, examined the standards related to the programs and observed their implementation on-site.
During the three-day field visits, the team members met with BARU Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran and Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Bülent Karakaş, as well as department heads, division heads, faculty members, and students, holding various discussions.Rector Prof. Dr. Uzun underlined that BARU is making intensive efforts for the accreditation processes of all programs. Orhan Uzun stated, “As Bartın University, we are making a concerted effort to internalize quality processes, disseminate them to the grassroots level, and transform this into cultural practice. We are working together to bring the quality of education in all programs within our university to national and international standards. In this context, I congratulate our Computer Technology and Information Systems, Biotechnology, and Mathematics Departments, which have taken an important step in the accreditation processes with the goal of quality in education. I would like to thank our Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Bülent Karakaş, our Department Heads Prof. Dr. Ramazan Yılmaz and Assoc. Dr. Hasan Ufuk Çelebioğlu, and all our human resources for their dedicated work towards our institutional progress. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Head of the FEDEK Evaluation Team, Prof. Dr. Emrah Akyar, and the team members for their valuable approaches in field visits and striving for improvement. Furthermore, I would like to thank our President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, our YÖK members, and the President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THECQ), Prof. Dr., for their continuous support in our quality-oriented studies.” "I would like to express my gratitude to Ümit Kocabıçak and our THECQ members," he said.
