"BARÜ crowned its quality processes with "Institutional Accreditation"

Bartın University (BARÜ) has been awarded accreditation for a period of two years under the Institutional Accreditation Program (KAP) implemented by the Turkish Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THECQ).

As a result of its efforts within the scope of the Institutional Accreditation Program (KAP), one of the important elements of quality assurance in the higher education system, Bartın University (BARÜ) has earned the right to receive "Conditional Accreditation" for a period of two years. The 'THECQ Institutional Accreditation Certificate,' which certifies quality in education, was presented to BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun by the President of the Turkish Higher Education Council, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, and the President of the Turkish Turkish Higher Education Quality Council, Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak, at a ceremony.

BARÜ's Accreditation Success

The Institutional Accreditation Certificate presentation ceremony, hosted by Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University at the Itri Congress and Culture Center, was attended by Rector Uzun and BARÜ Quality Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Ümmühan Avcı, who received the accreditation certificate, stated that their success was crowned with the receipt of the "Institutional Accreditation Certificate" following the completion of the external evaluation process carried out within the scope of the "THECQ Institutional Accreditation Program".

Rector Uzun said, "We have undertaken many initiatives to internalize quality and make it a part of our institutional culture. With our dynamic and student-focused management approach, we have always aimed for better by placing the concept of 'quality' at the center of our focus. We successfully passed the accreditation reviews conducted under the leadership of THECQ and earned the right to receive institutional accreditation. I believe that this certificate, which is an expression of quality processes at all stages of our work, will also guide prospective students in making the right university "Our current goal is to carry this success into the future in a sustainable way and complete the full accreditation process, which will last for 5 years."  Rector Uzun expressed his gratitude.

Emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in institutional progress, Rector Uzun stated, “We have made significant progress in quality processes spanning years, thanks to great effort and dedication.

In this context, I wholeheartedly congratulate our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik, Quality Coordinator Assoc. Dr. Ümmühan Avcı, and our valuable colleagues in the Quality Office, who contributed to University's accreditation for a period of two years through their diligent work. I also thank all our stakeholders, including our academic and administrative staff, students, alumni, and advisory board members, for their efforts in making our University a respected member of the information society. I extend my gratitude to our THECQ President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak and the THECQ members for their supportive approaches and valuable encouragement throughout the process. Moreover, I thank our YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar for supporting us in implementing quality-oriented strategies and encouraging us to strive for improvement.” “I would like to express my gratitude to our YÖK (Council of Higher Education) members,” he said.

BARÜ's Institutional Accreditation Process

The THECQ Evaluation Team, which audits universities for compliance with international quality standards, conducted meticulous and comprehensive studies at BARÜ, both through face-to-face on-site visits and by remotely reviewing supporting documents and files. During the on-site visits, the Evaluation Team visited each faculty and department individually, and held face-to-face meetings with internal and external stakeholders within the scope of Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Criteria.

As a result of the process, which involved intensive collaborative work with all stakeholders, BARÜ's achievements in education, research and development, social contribution, leadership, governance, and quality were officially recognized with a two-year accreditation certificate.
